The first task of the POLITeam consortium is to develop a groupware
system which has the capacity to aid spacially distributed and asynchronous
work tasks. The most important components of the system are:
The workflow component which supports cooperative and coordinated processes
like ministerial work through the availability of electronic circualtion folders.
The coordinated document and work task component which allows for the cooperative
work on a joint document. The information service which informs the user
individually about past and current processes within the cooperative context.
The registration and archive component which is part of cooperation support
component.
The organisational management system which administers information. The technical
management system which supports the technical and organisational management of
the distributed systems.
All components are presented in an integrated way through a joint interface
which makes it easy to comprehend and control the complex relations. The entire
system is based on a management system of distributed objects.
The strategy of the POLITeam project is to establish developmental work in cooperation with the user. That´s why representatives of the group of potential use rs from public administration as well as from industry were involved in the project from the beginning. The application of the system will then lead to improvements for coordinated support systems.
The POLITeam project was successfully introduced at the G7 meeting last year in Brussels. This meeting was attended by the U.S. Vice President Al Gore, the German Minister of Trade Günther Rexrodt and Martin Bangemann who is a member of the European Parliament for industry, information-technology and telecommunications. Another presentation was given at the CeBit 1995.
